An afternoon at the OFFICE OF MALABON CITY MAYOR TITO ORETA

Me and our dearest Mayor Tito Oreta

I am very lucky to be at the office of our City Mayor Tito Oreta yesterday. We are welcomed by our young and dynamic councilor LenLen Oreta. It is a our first time to have a face to face talk with the Mayor and councilor LenLen and with the other officers of our city that include City Admin Engr Benjie Villacorta and CUPAO Chief Mr.Abbi Balatbat. They are all very accomodating and are very supportive. We did not expect such an overwhelming courtesy call with our Mayor Tito Oreta. Looking for generous people with a great BIG Heart : )

Going Asean and eventually going World is every chess player dream. This opportunity actually did come to me unexpectedly this early. But this trip to Vietnam will definitely provide opportunities for me to gain exposure abroad and will help me become world-class caliber chess athlete in the future. I still cannot manage things all by myself and I wanted to travel with my training coach and my father. But they have to shoulder their expenses. Their total expenses will amount to more than a thousand dollars, which will include airfare plus taxes and approximately 10 days hotel accommodation and meals. It is really big big money and we cannot afford such a huge amount. We are seeking help from kind souls that will help us defray our expenses. Any amount that will be donated to help will be highly appreciated and acknowledged nationwide through press releases in print and in leading newspapers. Your name, company or products will be highlighted here, just one way of saying Thank You. If you’re interested please send me an email at daryl_unix@yahoo.com. I really hope that are generous and kind-hearted people out there who are willing to help us. God Bless!
You may send help to Account name - Dina R. Samantila on any of these account nos:

Summer Training

It is already summer but I still can't get the feeling of my summer vacation. Almost everyday I have to attend my training together with the Adamson Chess Varsity. For weeks now I am not able to get home and go swimming. I should be spending my vacation back home but even now I can’t even spend weekends in our house in Malabon. That is because of my busy schedule especially this summer where chess tournaments are being held from town to town. I even missed the Active Chess Tournament in our covered court at Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City. Though it was held on a weekend it coincides with the tournament I attended at the Ateneo de Manila University. I maybe the youngest player there and my friends, neighbors and cousins should have seen me play. I had some games with some of the chess players in our barangay. Last year, I remember playing with some of the teenagers in our street (Judge Oreta St). Oftentimes I loose since I am still learning. But now I may say, they are no match now. They don’t even know yet that I am going to Vietnam this June to represent our country, our town, and our little barangay. As my parent always remind me, be a humble achiever and show respect to those who have helped me got to where I am now (and in the future).
