FORTHCOMING AGE GROUP ELIMINATION IN KALIBO, AKLAN

NCFP Calendar of Events for the year 2009 is already available in NCFP website. National Age Group is scheduled on April 10 to 14, 2009 and the National Juniors from April 16 to 20, 2009 at Boracay, Aklan. BUT, according to sources who have heard of the announcement, it is not going to be held exactly at the Boracay Island but in Kalibo, Aklan instead.

My mother whose surname is 'delos Reyes' traces her root from the province of Ibajay, Aklan where my grandfather Oscar delos Reyes was born. My grandfather belongs to the clan of Solidum-delos Reyes. I found on the internet that my great grandfather Guillermo de los Reyes, to be one of those who established the civil government of Ibajay, Aklan and has been Ibajay`s acting Mayor in 1944 and was later replaced by another great grandfather Moises T. Solidum until 1946.

I hope I can join this year`s tournament and have the chance to meet our relatives there.

My first chess training - MILO Checkmate, May 2007

We found some pictures of my Milo training when my parents are doing a computer clean-up. Milo`s way of training is not bad for a newbie. Personal training, a one-on-one guide regarding chess technicalities which is very beneficial for us kids especially when we are ready to join tournaments. Background is actually a mall`s department store entrance, this is somewhere in Makati. = )
After a one-week training, all students meet at MILO Checkmate HQ at St. Francis Square for the weekend tournament. This is to test if we are able to absorb all the lessons we did for the week and to gauge our own skills with other players.
And after the tournament, the awarding. So precious my first medal at MILO and it so inspiring especially when you are able to got Gold medals and win games over other kids that are older than me.
My supportive cousin Monique and sister Dindin showing off my medals. =)
