11th ASEAN+ AGE GROUP CHESS TOURNAMENT
SUBIC FREEPORT, OLONGAPO CITY
June 4 to 13, 2010.

Adamson  University Basic Education Department Chess Whiz kid Daryl Unix R. Samantila, took home THREE GOLD MEDALS at the Asean+ Age Group Chess Championship 2010 held at Subic Freeport, Olongapo City from June 4 to 13, 2010.  Their team dubbed as Philippines Open 12 captured the Gold in Standard, Rapid and Blitz events.  Daryl, a silver medalist in the NCFP qualifying tournament, held at Davao City last May, also made it in the top 5 players list in all events. He was able beat Singapore`s former Under 7 World Schools Champion, a U.S. Chess Federation`s  Fil-Am player  and high rated chess players from Vietnam and Iran.   Samantila who is now in grade 6, is the youngest team member of the Adamson Baby Falcon chess varsity under coach Christopher Rodriguez.
