Meet the 'Bravest and the Youngest' players in the 6th Prospero A. Pichay Cup Open and Challenge

The youngest in this year`s event and first time to play in the Challenger Division, age 11 years and 1 month.  Started at number 60 and ranked number 25 after round 9 with a total of full 5 points.  Defeated the only Candidate Master in the event and co-varsitarian Karen Enriquez (top lady in the event) and other senior players.

Jerad Docena
The Top Kiddie for the Challenger Division, age 12 years and 8 months.  With a total of 5.5 points, he drew games against the veterans and scored points against high-rated players. 

Paulo Bersamina
The youngest player in the Open Division, age 12 years and 6 months.  With a moderate score of 3/9 points he showed a rating performance of 2169.  He won against IM Halay Taufik of Indonesia and drew games with another Indonisian IM Tirto, and 3 more players who have higher ratings than him. His performance earned him additional ratings.

6th Prospero A. Pichay Cup Open and Challenge - bad opening

Jerad Docena, the small but terrible guy from FEU won the game.  What a bad opening that I committed.  I was scolded by papa and did not stop talking about my mistake the whole time.  Better remember it next time Daryl.  But thanks God I was able to won my last game for the day.

6th Prospero A. Pichay Cup Open and Challenge - A win over a CM and a showdown

I was paired to a senior and a Candidate Master last Sunday and I won the two games.  Round 2 was with Mr. Orlando Cruz, me on black pieces; and I was actually playing right beside my coach Mr. Chris Rodriguez playing on the opposite color where he could see my every move.  That is why I played so carefully.  Making sure every move is the best one.

My round 3 is with Candidate Master GOUNDAR Sanmogam of Fiji. I got the advantage position while he played defensively.  He was time-troubled and got flagged down while I still have 22 minutes left.  I think he is the only Candidate Master playing in the challenger division.  Maybe he was unable to calculate his opponent well, for I am still a kid and he doesn't knew me.

Wish me goodluck on my Round 4 for this is going to be showdown.  On Board 8 it will be Jerad Docena (white) vs me on black pieces. Oh! what an early match-up with my friend.  May God bless me in this game... Amen.

I was paired with my coachs co-navy team Mr. Hamid Baluca. He won over me because I was not able to support my pieces during the end game.
