Daryl Unix R. Samantila will head to Jakarta, Indonesia to Compete in the 4th ASEAN Primary School Sports Olympiad.

International Arbiter and National Master Erwin Carag who bagged the Best Coach for 86th NCAA chess tournament recommended me to be part of the Philippine chess team to compete in the 4th ASEAN Primary School Sports Olympiad 2010 (APSSO) happening on November 4 – 10, 2010 at Jakarta, Indonesia.

Department of Education (DepED) via Task Force on School Sports (TFSS) has selected the official Philippine delegates for chess. Chosen to comprise Philippine chess team are Daryl Unix R. Samantila, Raul M. Sol Cruz, Marie Antoinette M. San Diego, and Stephone Rome E. Pangilinan. Accompanying the Chess Team athletes are Coach IA/NM Erwin Carag, Asst. Coach Sports Writer/NM Marlon Bernardino, and Head of Delegation DepEd`s Mr. Feliciano 'Len' Toledo.

Organized by the Ministry of National Education and The Directorate of Kindergarten and Elementary School Education of Indonesia, APSSO, an annual sports competition event at elementary level was created to improve and develop sports at an early age promoting an intelligent and strong young generation that foster friendship, sportsmanship and respect with fellow athletes. It is participated by 10 countries composed of Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei and Philippines. Included also in the competition are sports event chess, table tennis, badminton and athletics.

DepEd shall provide for the players hotel, board and lodging and meals during the competition. Uniform will also be provided except for our own airfare.  I seek sponsorship funds to help support me and my companion`s  travel and other expenses related to this event.

Companies and individuals who wish to support and sponsor me to the 4th ASEAN Primary School Sports Olympiad may contact us at 0927 7352993 or email at daryl_unix@yahoo.com. This will be an important milestone in my chess career.
