SAMANTILA BOUNCES BACK; SAN DIEGO SETTLES FOR 2ND WIN IN CHINA CHESS MEET

KUNMING CITY, Yunnan Province, China---FILIPINO Daryl Unix Samantila rebounded from an opening-day loss to whip Chinese Liu  Ze  Zhou while countryman Filipina Woman Fide Master Marie Antoinette San Diego continuer her winning run in the second round of the 2011 China-ASEAN junior chess classic competition here on Tuesday.

The top player of Adamson University Samantila who hails from Tonsuya, Malabon prevails with the white pieces in just 29 moves of a Dutch defense in this round-robin event being held coincide the celebration of 20th anniversary commemorative activity of China-ASEAN dialogue relations with a theme " Convergence of Wisdom and Harmony".

"Medyo pumasok po sa preparation natin," said the 2011 Shell National Youth Active Chess Batangas Leg Champion Samantila whose stint here is supported by  Malabon City Lone District Congresswoman Jaye Lacson-Noel, Adamson University President Fr. Gregg L. Bañaga and Chess Coach Christopher Rodriguez.
Daryl Unix who bagged the coveted gold medal in the 2011 ASEAN + age group chess competition in Tarakan, Indonesia last June earlier lost to to Wang Yu Kun of China after 43 moves of French skirmish in the open 12 years old and under.

Daryl Unix who belonged to the "ASEAN" team now has 1 win and 1 loss in two outings.

While Daryl Unix recovered his form, Marie Antoinette eke out another win this time against Zhao Sheng Xin of China in their Sicilian skirmish for his second straight wins in as many rounds in the girls 12 years old and under category.

"Winning na siya (Zhao Sheng Xin) sa laro namin kaso parang nag relax kaya naka recover pa ako at nakuha ko y'ung importanteng panalo," said he Dasmarinas, Cavite bet Marie Antoinette, youngest Filipina Woman Fide Master at the age of 12.

Marie Antoinette also beat Zhang Rang of China after 32 moves of Slav defense in the opening round.
Samantha Glo Revita of Rosales, Pangasinan recovered in a losing position and salvaged a draw against Huang Mo Fei after 45 moves of an English Opening for his second straight draw.

Samantha Glo Revita settled a truce with Ye Qian Qian of China after 40 moves of Sicilian Pelikan in the first round in the girls 12 years old and under category.

However, Ronald Canino of Cagayan de Oro City and Jerlyn Mae San Diego of Dasmarinas, Cavite failed to scored their second straight wins.

Ronald bowed to Malin of China after 45 moves of Sicilian defense in the open 10 years old and under category while Jerlyn Mae was yielded to Wang Ming Qing of China in the girls 8 and under category.
 Ronald upset Dai Wen Zhi of China  after 60 moves of French defense in the first round while Jerlyn Mae toppled Xie Li Bei Lei of China after 54 moves of Sicilian Defense dragon variation.

Dennis Gutierrez III of Bulacan/Pangasinan subdued Yu Kai Feng of China after 49 moves of King's Indian defense in the open 8 years old and under category while Julius Gonzales of Marikina City split the point with Dai in their London System Opening duel.

Gutierrez who halved the point with Xu Yin La of China after 46 moves of Sicilian kan in the first round raised his total 1.5 points while Gonzales who lost to Ma Lin after 32 moves of Sicilian o kelly now has 0.5 point.

 The Filipino woodpushers China chess campaign is backed up by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., and Secretary-General Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr., the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) thru it's chairman Ricardo Garcia and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

The China-ASEAN Youth Chess Classic Tournament 2011 is jointly organized by Kunming Sports Development, Kunming Chess Association and Jinma Chess Club under the auspices of ASEAN Chess Confederation and Chinese Chess Association.
