SAN DIEGO, GONZALES SETTLES FOR DRAW IN CHINA CHESS MEET (round 3)

KUNMING CITY, Yunnan Province---FILIPINA Woman Fide Master Marie Antoinette San Diego settled for a truce with Chinese Huang Mo Fei creating a 2-way tie for first in the in the third round of the 2011 China-ASEAN junior chess classic competition here at the Lanice Hotel Inn, New Asia Athletics Park, Guangfu Road in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China on Wednesday.

The Dasmarinas, Cavite based San Diego, raised her total to 2.5 points, the same output of Xu Qian Qian of China in the girls 12 years old and under category.

Julius Gonzales of Marikina City also split the point with Zhou Chen of China for 1 point on 2 draws and a loss in the open 10 years old and under category.

The Double-Round Scheveningen System being held coincide the celebration of 20th anniversary commemorative activity of China-ASEAN dialogue relations with a theme " Convergence of Wisdom and Harmony".

However, other Filipino bets lost their respective rivals.

Daryl Unix Samantila of Tonsuya, Malabon was yielded to Zhao Jun Cheng of China in the open 12 years old and under category, Ronald Canino of Cagayan de Oro City was succumbed to Zhu Yi of China in the open 10 years old and under category as well Dennis Gutierrez III of Bulacan/Pangsinan bowed to Huang Ren Lie of China in the open 8 years old and under category.

In the distaff side, Samantha Glo Revita of Rosales, Pangasinan lost to Zhao Sheng Xin of China in the girls 12 years old and under category and Jerlyn Mae San Diego of Dasmarinas, Cavite was beaten by Peng Si Lin of China in the girls 8 years old and under category.

The Filipino woodpushers China chess campaign is backed up by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) headed by it's Chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., and Secretary-General Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr., the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) thru it's chairman Ricardo Garcia and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) under Jose "Peping" Cojuangco.

The China-ASEAN Youth Chess Classic Tournament 2011 is jointly organized by Kunming Sports Development, Kunming Chess Association and Jinma Chess Club under the auspices of ASEAN Chess Confederation and Chinese Chess Association.
