Philippine Junior Chess Team Press Releases

The members of the Philippine team which finished third overall in the recent 12^th ASEAN+ age group chess championship in Tarakan, Indonesia are shown in photo with Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia during a courtesy call at the PSC Office at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Vito Cruz, Manila yesterday.  Also in photo are National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) president Prospero “Butch” Pichay, PSC Commissioner Buddy Andrada, NCFP executive director GM Jayson Gonzales and coaches James Infesto and Wilfredo Neri.

ANG Delegasyon ng Philippine Chess team sa pangunguna ni NCFP Executive director GM Jayson Gonzales sa kanilang pagdating sa NAIA sa bansa mula sa Indonesia makaraang makipagtunggali sa ginanap ng 12^th Asean age group chess competition sa Tarakan, Indonesia na nagkamit ng 61 medalya, 17-ginto, 19-silver at 22 bronze.

On the 22nd of June 2011, everybody got packed up and ready to go home.  Had the 5pm flight from Tarakan to Jakarta via Balikpapan.  Then waited for some hours to be aboard Philippine Airlines which will fly us back home from Jakarta to Manila at 12:55 AM of June 23, 2011.  Before 6:00am we are already landed in our dear country Philippines.

We were greeted by our parents when we arrived at the NAIA Terminal 2 and had some photo sessions.  We had a 10:00am courtesy call at the office of PSC Chairman Ritchie Garcia and NCFP Chairman Butch Pichay.

Proboscis Monkey and Tarakan Mangrove Forest

Tarakan in East Kalimantan is home to the Mangrove and Bekantan Conservation Area (KKMB), believed to be the only mangrove forest located in a city center in Indonesia, if not the world. It is situated on Jl. Gajah Mada, adjacent to downtown Gusher Plaza.
