Pinoy youngsters vie in Asean age-group chessfest

MANILA, Philippines -- A 36-strong contingent is representing the Philippines in the 12th ASEAN age-group chess championships at the Indoor Telaga Kramat Stadium in Tarakan, Indonesia.

The tournament starts Monday and ends Sunday.

The Filipinos will compete in the boys and girls 20-, 16-, 14-, 12-, 10- and 8-under categories.

The players are: Girls 8-under—Irish Yngayo, and Jerlyn  Mae San Diego and Mary Solo  Quitong
Boys 8-under—Lord de la Cruz, Ronald Canino,and Dennis  Gutierrez III;
Boys 10-under—Julius Gonzales, and Jeremy Solano and Dennis Gutierrez,
Girls 10-under—Jesca Docena, and Vanessa Magno and Lorraine Yngayo,
Boys 12-under—Dary Unix Samantila, Tristan Frech Ibaoc and Haince Patrick de Leon,
Girls 12-under— Marie Antoinette San Diego, and Samantha Glo Revita;
Boys 14-under—Jerad Docena, and Giovanni Mejia and Austin Jacob Literatus,
Girls 14-under—Mira Mirano, and Ella Grace Moulic and Shania  Mae Mendoza,
Boys 16-under – Paul Robert Evangelista,  McDominique Lagula, and Jeazzir  Kline Surposa;
Girls 16-under— Jean Karen Enriquez, and Cherry Ann Mejia and Janelle  Mae Frayna,
Boys 20-under—Mari Joseph  Turqueza, and Richelieu Salcedo and Lennon Hart  Salgados;
Girls 20-under—Jedara Docena, and Mary Israel Palero and Rowelyn  Acedo
The team is coached by Wilfredo Neri and  James Infiesto.
